For every one vulnerability found in Open Source, assume an order of magnitude more in Closed Source.

So when Microsoft decided to <3 linux, there were suddenly a lot of vulnerabilities...
On a more serious note, i think that just comes from Projects trying to push for features rather than maintenance, as we see in the kernel too
