As someone who’s spent years handling all production and distribution for my custom goods by myself, POD has been a game changer. I’m now able to offer more designs without red lining my work capacity and as a result, I’m able to leave products available for longer. POD also makes it easier to offer variants of a design like different colorways and supplemental products.

Update: I had to discontinue POD as my designs kept getting stolen and sold overseas. I learned once you upload a design to a POD site, it could end up anywhere :/

As someone with no experience who just needs to stop coming up with excuses and TRY something (maybe even boldly fail and something) I appreciate your approach to this video. I spent all week getting my first set of designs set up and was looking up all the do's and don'ts and "what I wish I had known before...." videos while I worked. The day I was about to upload my first listing, one of the "don't even waste your time" people popped up. For once I just took a deep breath, and kept going on with my plan for the day to just start this thing. Your video helped. Thanks :)

the advice you are giving regarding not worrying about profit margins when you are just starting out, especially when you are by yourself or have only a small team, is EXACTLY what i needed to hear. Thank you for making this content

This video is GOLD. Thanks so much for putting your knowledge out here and taking the time and effort to create these videos on your channel. I found you over 2.5 years ago when I was pregnant with my first child. You inspired the hell out of me, heck I can say you’ve changed my life (for the better!) Thanks dude! It really stuck with me from one of your videos how you talked about when you were a sahd and stayed up late worked and that made me realize I am capable of doing that.

Great advice, thank you! My problem was with #2 the greed and getting everything done and right was too much. Wasted money on dtg printer and physical stuff but learned so much through the process

My biggest control issue is packaging. I feel presentation is everything. But I just don't have the room for large orders. It's something I need to let go off. Thanks for the info.

"Test your audience with different types of products" using Print On Demand. Thanks for sharing your Solid Truths, bro. So many of my questions were answered with your clean and to-the-point steps on the vid..

This video speaks nothing but facts!!! I'm just now starting my own POD business, but selling merch is only a small (yet lucrative) part of my business plan. I don't care that part of my profits will get eaten by the POD services because I don't have the time or the money to do printing and shipping myself. I love that you said we should focus more on increasing sales to make up for the profit loss. Love this video! Thank you!!! 😄👏🏽🙌🏽

Just sharing my experience with Teespring now called Spring. Back in 2019, I did some shirts with them, I ordered myself a sample and the print colors were all wrong. It took them a few tries to get the colors right.

Fast forward two months ago, I made a hoodie design and ordered myself 2 samples. They were perfect!

I wanted to order another sample, but for some reason made a mistake and ordered from my own website, not a sample. First, that order did not show up in my list of purchases (prob because it was not ordered as a sample) So, I ordered another one (still not a sample). Omg! These hoodies were horrible!! The print was totally off! The samples were very professional looking and looked shiny, the non-samples looked like a first grader just slapped some paint on the hoodie. The letters were not even aligned. You would think you had double vision when you read them!

I complained to Spring, and customer service was responsive. They issued a replacement. After two weeks the 2nd non-sample order came in, with the exact same issues. I was told, no that is not the replacement, that was your second order. I'm like, OK... so I now have two of these ugly hoodies. The replacement came in, and it was worse printing than the previous two (non-samples) that were sent! So now, I have 3 ugly hoodies, and waiting for Spring to send me a refund (for the 2nd non-sample order)

My take is that if you order a sample, they make it look good so you go on and do print-on-demand with them. But when your customers order, who knows if they get a totally different print quality.

My story. My experience.

I would rather lose profit per sale, then my precious time with my family. Plus, doing shipment part of business is fun said no one ever. 🤪

I like what you're saying here. It's inching away at the fears that brought my business to a grinding halt 😢

My problem is that making the items myself is my favorite part. I think maybe I need to just do a combination of both. Maybe start by using POD to do the things that I can't do, like anything that needs white ink.

Preach! Thank You! Finally a no BS no excuses video. As someone who does large quantities for local companies... I know exactly what it costs to do my own prints and pressing...
While I appreciate what I do. I am also an artist who wants to build my own brand and POD is a big help for one or a few shirts. You are right pod providers are part of our team and in the long run it really isn't that much more especially with some prints on short runs it can be crazy expensive..

Make a video on Good quality tshirts/prints vs bad quality. What to look for and know the differences. 🙏

Hi, I wanted to comment bcz I have been procrastinating for the longest time about POD! I mean over a year!! But when I watched ur video, it made me finally do something about it. Everything u said was true and I have been through it! I don't know anything about POD n I'm scared to FAIL, but I saved ur video so I can watch it over n over again to give me hope and motivation that "I CAN DO IT" !!! Thank u so much!

This video was great! I never thought of doing both pod AND customized in house fulfillment. Awesome advice, thank you!

All companies start with very low/no profit margins - focus on getting sales and a following first.

@01:47 PREACH. For every 1000 reviews you see, it's the 1 bad one you hold onto. It's like work, which I know you have been an entrepreneur your whole life (RESPECT!) so you don't realize this, but in the corp world, you can do 1000 things right, the second you get ONE SINGLE THING WRONG it's suddenly what defines you for a period of time (short or long, depends).

Yep.
