People who move near an airport that has been there for over 70 years and complain about the noise are just as annoying as those little bugs that fly around your face.

The arguments about what to do go back to the 1970s. County Executive Al Del Bello had a master plan. It was stopped dead in its tracks by people living in Greenwich who don't want the noise.

Airplanes today are not nearly as noisy as the airplanes of 40 and 50 years ago. They are still using the same argument, only because that's the one that seems to work for them. Meanwhile they have no problem schlepping down to LaGuardia??? With all that traffic slowing them down when there is a convenient airport right here!

Here's an incentive. Instead of Connecticut proposing a tollbooth on 684 for that little portion that crosses into Connecticut for what, a half a mile with no exit, the state of Connecticut and Fairfield County should partner with New York and Westchester. Abracadabra: the White Plains-Greenwich airport! Share so much more wealth that would generate! It's closer and much more convenient for people in Fairfield, Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, and Dutchess Counties. That's Over two million people. That's bigger than Albany. And it would take tons of pressure off of LaGuardia and Kennedy. And if the state ever makes up its mind to build a causeway between Rye and Nassau County (not quite as long as the one across Lake Pontchartrain), that creates much easier access to more potential business, shipping, investment, and traveling in conjunction with more added growth at the airport.

Envision a real terminal on the west side with its own exit off of 684.

Growth is happening everywhere else. Passenger traffic is now happening in secondary airports in Orlando. Fort Lauderdale used to be secondary to Miami once upon a time. Not anymore. It's happening all over Southern California and Phoenix. Stewart was dubbed New York's fourth airport? Before Westchester and Islip??? Excuse me?

Noise is not a problem anywhere else. It can't be used as an excuse anymore. White Plains must take off its kid gloves and become a real modern 21st-century airport for the people and the business investments that deserve to have it. And we have technology to protect the ground, the reservoir, the flora and fauna who have always called that place home.
