COMING up next, the last extensive interview iconic 80s singer Tony Lewis of The Outfield gave before he passed away. I was fortunate to speak to him about one of the most beloved songs of the 80s Your Love. He said when he and his guitarist wrote the opening line they knew life was about to change in a big way. It might be the most memorable opening line of the entire decade sung by one of the most under-appreciated singers of the 80s. After they wrote that line the song came effortlessly in about 15 minutes, and the song took them to the top of the charts. A couple of working-class buddies were soon surpassing the Madonnas, Whitney Houstons and ZZ Tops of the chart... the story is coming up next on Professor of Rock.

It's sad growing older and seeing the rock stars you listened to as a kid dying off. RIP brother your music lives on.

My 16 year old daughter, in 2025, has a sweatshirt with ‘Josie’s on a vacation far away’ written on it. So yeah, I’d say they made an impression lol RIP ♥️

I was 16 driving my AMC Gremlin listening to that song when I got a speeding ticket. Irony- I still love that song, and how is it possible to speed in a Gremlin.

I was lucky enough to see Outfield in their prime and even more so lucky to see Tony Lewis sing this live the year before he passed. He sang it in a lower scale but that angelic voice was just pure gold. RIP Tony, your music continues to bring joy to the world.
