In May 2022 I solo hiked 170 Km on the GR221 - the Drystone Route in Mallorca. I was wild camping every night carrying all my gears. I would resupply on food regularly whenever i passed by any village on the way. Water being scarce on trail, i would usually carry 3L for the day and refill whenever possible.
Pack weight: 14kg excluding water.

This is an ambient film without dialog.

Beautifully captured. And at last a video that shows some bad weather. Be aware though that wild-camping is not allowed in Mallorca and doing so can be fined well into thousands of dollars. This is especially so in these days (2024) when protests against tourism are mounting.

Thanks for your non-dialog video. Sometimes people is babling on and on.
Your video is so beautiful that words are not necessary.
I hope to do the GR 221 in the end of september 2023.

well done Avish, one of the most underrated trails although still famous hike. I spend many years in Mallorca and the Tramuntana mountains are magical! Most videos online are more high tours or even alpine like, but this is also beautiful Maybe with additional drone shots it would have add even something extra. Enjoy your future hikes!

Well done Avish. Really enjoyed that. A long trek on such hard rocky surfaces. Some lovely sunsets and sunrise. Also the sounds of nature were well captured. I would imagine you really enjoyed that meal in Port de Pollenca when you finished. Take care

I found this video on accident. I think I know what I need to do now. I think I know what I should do. All I have to do is commit. Five years from now I will be in this place, for myself. Nobody will have told me. Nobody will have recommended it me. It will be my choice.

Yeah, finally a new piece of you Avish! A great new video man, the scenery out there looks amazing. I have been to Mallorca several times but never did a proper hike there. Looks like an awesome adventure, I guess I really have to check out the GR221 soon ;) Thank you very much for inspiring me man. Wish you a wonderful week.

amazing video, what was your emergency plan if you stuble and hurt your foot/angle in an area with no cell coverage? did you meet people every day?

Very nice. Thinking about hiking the GR221 spontaneously end of September, too. But since I am still afraid of wild camping, I will stay in the Refugis. :-)

Great video. I’m in my 50s and reasonably fit but by no means an experienced hiker but would love to do this walk. Do you have a list of equipment you took. I noted that you didn’t wear walking boots with ankle protection ? Was there no need as looked quite rough terrain in parts ? Thanks

I just did this hike in March. It was fucking hard! At some points I had to carry 4L of water!! I was too tired to feel tranquil. But I lost belly fat and got good sleep.

Another question, I know that in the Canaries (this is also Spain, like the Baleares) there is legislation that obliges tourists to register and stay only in campsites ... On the path of dry stone in Mallorca, can you stop anywhere? Or did you also stay in special places, campsites? Thank you... Looking forward to the next videos, they are exciting!
