Best Motorcycle Road in Georgia? | Scenic Twisties | HWY 197

Is this one of the best Georgia motorcycle roads north in the state? With sweeping turns you’re guided along State Road 197 for 29 miles. The scenic drive is lined through back country woods with waterfalls, a lake, and a river at your side. HWY 197 turns and twists as you ride through portions of Habersham and Rabun counties and the Chattahoochee National Forest. Fun fact: the scenic GA Highway 197 was also used by moonshiners during Prohibition in the United States.

Riding can be therapeutic and after taking a five year hiatus from the twisties, this was an impactful moment of therapy for me. Cheers!

You are 100% right regarding riding your own ride, seen way too many people either have accidents trying to keep up with faster groups or get put off entirely of riding with other people due to being pressured to ride faster than they want to.

I live just west of there, it's heaven in the summer, i can ride take about a 60 mile loop from Dahlonega to Suches it hits Wolf Pen Gap and Blood Mountain and be back home in about 2 hours. The best part is 70% of time, the ride is in the shad and rarely for more than 1-2 minutes at a time.
