I did the fafsa and I got a scholarship for like 1/4 of my college tuition so actually do it. It’s really useful.

I would really recommend to apply for FAFSA and talk to your financial aid office for any additional grants/scholarships. Even if you can't get money from FAFSA there is a change that you be able to get some other grants/scholarships.

Recommendation from random internet stranger: Don't let your parents claim you in their taxes. Become independent. Even if you still live in the same household. Your changes of getting it then is most likely certain and highly probable to get the full grant.

Also remember to fill it out every year. You get 6 years max.

I’m nervous about FAFSA since my parents make a lot of money… but are also in a lot of debt from their student loans. I looked at merit scholarships for the schools I want to go to and they don’t take parent’s debt into account!

Also, depending on your school, you can ask for more aid! I asked for more aid from my college and they gave me more, there’s never any harm in asking!

My tribe is going to pay for my college (including the things for college) and I get paid if I get good grades :)

I just wish it wasn't the government doing this, and yes the colleges themselves. Because if it's the government, even who doesn't go to college has to pay :(

I applied for FAFSA on the first dat and got nothing. It only makes sense to apply if your family makes under $150k (sorry Bay Area kids).

Does the government provide any part of these funds to foreign students, as well? And what if we can't find the same documents in our country?
