🔽My point of the video is not that Predecessor would outperform Smite, that's ridiculous to think..
It's just a super fun game and in my opinion, as stated by the points in the video, the more fun experience gameplay-wise IF you're looking for an ACTION Moba.
Am I biased? Yes! And? I'm not talking down on Smite in any way and actually see it as the greater Moba, but in my biased experience Predecessor is the better ACTION Moba.
All the extra features, such like multiple game modes and skins are still missing in Pred and Smite has clearly the upper hand on that and sustainability,
but that simply isn't what I'm comparing in the video.
If you can appreciate someone talking about their favourite game and sharing it with people who might also want to try it, this video is for you ;)

Pred has a different dimension with its verticality. Makes the game so much more interesting and graphically it’s way better than smite.

It’s good for both games because 1. the moba genre earn new players 2. competition keeps you hungry as a dev 3. let’s be happy we have these games. I’m a paragon player and I play really many different type of games but paragon gives me so many crazy moments they still in my head. I will try smite 2 because it looks pretty nice 🔥👨🏻‍🍳

Predecessor does what Smite should have done, make the game immersive. The problem with other MOBA's (LOL and DOTA 2) was that they were distant point and click games that lacked immersion. Smite was supposed to that but instead they just took those games and put a 3rd person camera behind the heroes, there was no update in presentation, no attention to detail, no impactful sound design and no immersion. It legit was just LOL with a 3rd person camera.
Paragon was the first MOBA that fixed that with it's level of immersion and presentation but Paragon lacked refined gameplay, while Predecessor has this in spades.

Played Smite 1 and Pred, but man, Pred hits hard. Love the verticality and I find the clashes to be a bit more intense too. Smite's projectile speed just feels to slow, unlike in Pred. Right now though, Smite's weapon and hero pool is more comprehensive. But over time I imagine Pred could also catch up provided it doesn't fail.

So after finally playing in buy in alpha smite 2 has a long way to go still. Pred is substantially better in graphics and smoothness of combat

Oh man as a Smite fans since practically the beginning, that's a big yikes for smite, seeing the comparison in this video when predecessor comes in it just looks so much better! And it's crazy cuz that's practically what the gameplay looks like. The two just really can't be compared the fact that there's x y and z in predecessor and smite you're still stuck to the ground. 🤷‍♂️ I csnt go back to smite

I feel like you shouldve at least mentioned that all the value you've put into SMITE 1 directly transfers over to SMITE 2 as well, because it isnt that big of an L as you made it seem.

I for my part will play both of these games as I've learned to enjoy both in the past!
It's crazy tho, how many people can't appreciate someone rooting for another game, that is not their own favorite game...

Smite obviously is way bigger than Predecessor and offers way more features and skins, while Predecessor needs to get through its identity crisis, struggling to stand out from Paragon and Fault and Overprime after that..
Predecessor also is developed by a very small company of old Paragon fans, like I adressed in the video..
I loved Paragon when it came out and only played Smite when it shut down. But it also kind of grew to me, even when I still think Pred is just way more immersive than Smite and in this way simply offers a different experience than Smite, which is more Action...

Am I biased? Yes. Is that a bad thing? No.
I'm comparing the 2 games in the categories, specific to an ACTION MOBA, because these games are the biggest choices out there..

If you can't appreciate people having fun with different third person mobas, I'm sorry for you

I understand there is a bias in this video and I wont ding it for that, it is the creator's opinion after all. However there is a lot of info in this video presented as facts that are just wrong. Either due to poor research or just maliciousness.
But just to get my 2 cents across:
1st. Smite players are not losing their smite 1 skins and for each skin will be getting a refund in gems in smite 2. Double if they bought the founders pack, which is already a really good deal.
2nd. I'm not sure why you think less heroes to pick is actually better for a new player. 35 vs 150 simply means there are less options in each roles for new players. And if out of that 35 the player doesn't find a hero that "clicks" they will simply have less desire to play. In moba's and fighting games alike a smaller roster is rarely ever a good thing.
3rd. Graphics wise; its simply a matter of opinion. I think paragon or predecessor's character design style makes them look like that one generic character you always see on a graphic's card box. If you like a more realistic style then by all means. But stating this as a reason why smite should be wary or players will pick predecessor is kind of silly. Specially since none of predecessor's competitor's adopt this style.

Finally and this is more of a biased take: Paragon was never really able to capture a lot of players attention. And neither did the reboots following it. I played Paragon for about 40 or so hours back in the day and the whole game felt stiff. I tried predecessor and that felt better but still felt quite bland. One of my friends in particular was very excited to make the switch from smite to predecessor and the excitement died in about a week.

The video was entertaining though...

Thanks YT for putting this video in my feed! I'll probably play both games, though I stopped playing Smite around Season 6 when the battle pass system turned the game into too much of a grind.

i actually disagree with the team fight i thought they were boring and lackluster i hope it stays relevent but the animation also look a little wonky i am biased towards smite but i have played pred but it just feels like a knock off for some reason . i often would find my self laughing and not taking seriously but still a load of fun

realistic graphics don't work that much nowadays as people think though, stylized graphics are more memorable and give games a sense of identity, that's why fortnite, minecraft, LoL and genshin are some of the most successful games worldwide, the exceptions being GTA and CSGO because they're capitalising on them being more realistic and using realistic themes, MOBA's incluyding fantasy and magical stuff do better with more stylized graphics which clearly show the effects of each characters and make them distinguishable. In the clips from predecessor honestly I didn't manage to differentiate what was going on on the screen and the map felt boring and repetitive.

Predecessor isn't really a UE5 game, It was originally Paragon, which was made in UE4 all the assets and animations were ported to UE5. With that out of the way, Predecessor is a bit concerning to me because they still haven't dropped an original champion concept yet. Has this team created an asset that wasn't already in Paragon? They're still porting over the old champions now, and we don't even know if they replicate the same art style of the original champions. I haven't played the game a bunch, but from what I have even the animations are ported from UE4 can this studio even handle doing animations by themselves? What does the support for this game even look like in the next 5 years? The player base as it is right now, are they spending enough money to keep this game a float? In terms of attracting new players even though Smite 2 was in alpha tons of new players came in the first alpha weekend alone to play conquest, so many people didn't know how to play, but it still brought in 130, 000 players across all platforms.

I don't think Predecessor should be seeing Smite 2 as competition, I think it should see it as inspiration. With all the new tech the Smite 2 devs got, they can make characters and skins quicker than ever that look better than ever. I think Predecessor should focus on making itself stand out more and try to distance itself from just being a Revived Paragon.
