Increasing tax rates are the reason I rolled over my 401k to a Roth. I don’t want to be 59 paying taxes on current income on withdrawals made from my retirement account.

I’m a retired, registered nurse .Had enough one day, put in my papers and retired at 55.Already accumulated 30 years credited service in the state retirement system by age 53, entitling me to a full pension.
I had quite a bit of debt but kept plugging away at it .When I claimed Social Security benefits at 62 that additional income stream enabled me to eliminate all my debt within 10 months after claiming benefits .

Retired teacher here and couldn’t be happier! I do substitute about 4-5 times a month. I enjoy the kids(high school). They are on their phones so much that classes are usually quiet.😁

I am being downsized this week. Off to retirement for me as well. Looking forward to the new life.

Improving my health is the #1 reason I want to retire at the end of the year at 61.5 years old. I am always amazed at how much better I feel on Mondays (after 2 days off) and how I feel even better after a long (3-4 days) weekend. I cannot wait to focus on exercise, proper rest, and healthy food choices.

Retirement saved my life. The stress of my job was wrecking havoc on me. Every Sunday and Monday I celebrate. 🎉

I am enjoying your videos. I don't think 58 is too early to retire. I retired at 56.5. I can relate to both your triumphs and challenges. My biggest personal realization was that all the things I spent countless hours obsessing about before I retired turned out not to be a big deal. There is a lot of fear being peddled out there.

1. Less stress - often catch myself and remind myself that any stress I take on is completely on me...
2. Improved Health - Fitness no longer takes a backseat to a put it first now because, without it, nothing else would be possible for too long...
3. More time with Grand-kids - Spot on! Picking up my granddaughter is often the highlight of my week, and coaching my grandson's baseball team keeps me young...
4. Not bored - Totally agree. Boredom only happens if you haven't figured out how to enjoy life.

Great videos. The format is unique and the information is very helpful to folks in similar situations.

I can’t believe that people were negative towards your early retirement. They do not know the freedom and joy of early retirement. You are so precious.

You are not the first person to bring up people being negative about retiring early. It's shocking. They are jealous, which is understandable but shocking that people could be so immature. The you tube taxes sound complicated but glad you have the extra income. I will be taking my pension next year and hope I don't have to fill out all that paperwork. I am in complete agreement about leaving a stressful job is so worth any challenges! I did the same. I'm glad I didn't job hop and glad I made it to the finish line but glad I didn't keep working until normal retirement age. I don't get bored either. I love doing nothing. I love taking a walk and not worrying about how long I take. I love taking naps. I love doing whatever I want to whenever I want to.

Hi Julie! I’m so glad to hear all your positives! I retired two years ago at 58 from a very stressful job. The relief was instantaneous just like yours! I literally felt a huge weight lifted. It was hard to believe. But I was reluctant to actually tell people I had retired. You’re right, there’s a strange stigma. I almost feel that it’s part jealousy though. Others wish they could do the same and are maybe a little mad at you that you’ve been able to accomplish it. I’m glad I’ve found your channel and share your journey with you! I would be interested in how you’re working out your new daily routine. I must admit I’m not sure I’ve got mine where I want it yet. 😊

Less stress, being healthier, spending time with people you enjoy, pretty much does it. Squeezing a few vacations in is nice too. I like low stress vacations, hiking/fishing mostly western U.S. Thank you for your channel!

Leaving a stressful and overbearing long term job and retiring at 60 was the best decision I made thus far! My mental and physical health has improved significantly! It’s called PEACE and joy! Time to live our best life for those of us who are blessed to leave the rat race! Happy retirement! 👏🏾👏🏾😃😄🙌🏾❤️

My favorite part of this video is when you said you catch yourself smiling without realizing it 😂 Great job on the video as usual. 😊

I've heard that you do become healthier when you retire. More time to take care of yourself. 58 and trying to make it to 59 1/2. My pension vesting date and me turning 59 1/2 fall within days of each other. I take that as a sign.

I cant wait to experience this. I've been an RN for 25 years and I KNOW my health is suffering. The stress is unreal. I hope I can manage to work 5 more years until I retire because I cant afford to retire right now. I live in Canada which is a very high cost of living Country. I know for sure I would not be bored during retirement!!! Kudos to you!👏🏼👏🏼

Same thing with me…I thought I needed hip and knee surgery but 10 months of retirement no more pain….

You must’ve been a great teacher to have. You seem very approachable and down to Earth. I had a teacher in 3rd grade that I still remember fondly (I’m now 52). I feel your kind is rare. There are so many people in their jobs for the wrong reasons.
