In this episode of From Our Family to Yours, we talk about the benefits of distance learning.

At the beginning of the year, traditional school as we knew it quickly switched to online learning due to coronavirus. It was an adjustment for all students, teachers, and families. Even with the circumstances, some students with learning and thinking differences did better online learning than they did in the traditional classroom.

Our community member, Rebecca, shares how her son has been thriving with online learning.

"He is sleeping much better and his appetite is back. His grades are great. This whole learning experience has been great for him."

I love distance learning 💙 because of the pandemic, I’m doing my masters like this and it suits me so well. The uni is located in a different city from where I live and I don’t waste time commuting and it’s also an evening course so after finishing my lessons, I can go straight to bed. I seriously don’t understand all the complaints about people who say there’s a loss of quality in having online classes only. The number one priority is to stay alive during the pandemic. Some of my classmates prefer face to face and have attended some classes (divided in small groups) but their grades aren’t any better (in most cases, I and other students who attend classes online score even higher). Maybe in younger students, there are more problems but an adult student only needs a bit of self-discipline to do it. Covid-19 has brought a lot of pain, suffering and inconvenience but distance learning as an option (or some kind of hybrid learning) in at least uni courses could be part of its legacy.

My daughter also enjoyed the remote learning better than going to the classroom, even though she was a senior in high school!
