How long did it take for this canyon to be cut?

Look at this canyon. It reminds me of the Grand Canyon. You've got this little stream. You've got these steep canyon walls. How long do you suppose it would take for a stream this small to remove this much material and cut the canyon this deep? This rock has a history. It came from somewhere. A lot of these rocks have been dated to be 350,000 years old, up to 2 million. That's pretty old. But it might surprise you to know that all of the geological formations that we see here, the canyons, the layers, even the plants, are younger than I am. When I was born, there was nothing here but a vast forest, hundreds of feet below where we're standing right now. In fact, before 1980, most people had never even heard of Mount St. Helens.

I watched Mt. St. Helen's eruption on TV.

I remember when it blew up. Just wild. No one had ever seen that kind of power and the level of destruction it caused since the atomic bombs were used during WWII.

I was there. On the lower east side. The ground shook like hell, within minutes it was completely dark outside from ash. Washington State Police directing vehicles on escape routes and handing out air filters for each different vehicles and I remember us having to change filters a couple of times. I could just go on and on telling you how amazing that week was, working our way around the rubble to get back home in Central Oregon. It too was covered with ash.

People watching this video initially were thinking no way that happened - until he mentions Mount Saint Helen. This kinda changes, maybe even destroys Man’s thinking and theories regarding the origins of the earth and how we have arrived where we are today. Makes you think what might have happened back in Noah’s days of the great flood written in the book of Genesis.

I'd say the rapid erosion is because the stream was cut through fresh volcanic ash instead of dirt, rock, and gravel like the grand canyon
