Shashi Tharoor in conversation with Namita Gokhale

Writer and politician Shashi Tharoor speaks about his new book Why I Am a Hindu, presenting his own convictions and understanding of one of the world’s oldest religions. From the ‘Hinduism of habit’ practised by ordinary believers to manifestations of political Hinduism, from seers such as Patanjali, Adi Shankaracharya, Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Swami Vivekananda to the lessons of the Gita, he speaks of the essence of the religion and its vital contribution to a plural and secular democracy.

Its good to have faith, we need faith this life to help us move forward with our lives. Social injustice is up for grabs, we should fight for social justice. If faith has good things and bad things about it, we should ignore the bad things and stick to the good things. This is terrible advice, if a faith even has bad things about it, its not a true faith. its like calling God imperfect, because a completely supremely intelligent being, that can do anything, and knows everything, and is perfectly holy and just, does not make faith that has bad things in it. Its possible for the faith to say things that irritate, but bad things are not in Christianity. Tell me one bad thing about following Christ.
