FYI for people who don't know:

1. Last qualifying early state poll was conducted before the November debate.
2. This drought of polls has not been seen before since 2000
3. Yang just wants the DNC to ask the pollsters to conduct some more polls not actually have the DNC conduct it themselves.

Ryan and Saagar get this a bit wrong because the current list of qualified pollsters already have close ties to the DNC.

The DNC responded to the media before they responded to the Yang campaign regarding this issue. That speaks volumes to where their priorities are

I hadn't considered it before but I think Ryan is on to something. If the debates were properly moderated (a big 'if' given how poorly they've been done this year) there really isn't any good reason to force people out of the debate. The debates should be a place to debate, not give softball questions to people with rehearsed answers. Speaking time should be strictly enforced (including turning off mic when over) with evenly distributed time should be a guarantee .


Debates should be a place for candidates to have their messages submitted to the moderators and public for scrutiny.


Currently we have a propaganda theater operating to silence voices by polite omission and refusing to apply pressure to candidate vulnerabilities to see who truly is the best suited.

DNC already made their choice on who they want as the nominee. If the DNC wants to use Polls as a requirement, they need to have a polling schedule.

#PollThePeople It makes 0 sense to increase the early state polling qualification when no early state polls are even being conducted. It's also amazing to me that the donor threshold was only increased by 25, 000, the lowest threshold increase thus far. They auto-qualified Klobuchar. There are a few national polls that have come out and have Yang at 5%, but they aren't "qualifying". I'm 100% #YangGang, but Bernie is my 2nd choice. I could never vote for an establishment democrat again.

The easy solution is to let more 3rd party polls count for the debate and move the polls that count for the debate closer to the 14th. Then next election, ensure for January, the debate is in the last week of January so there's more time accumulate polls without interfering with the holidays.

Thanks for covering this. #PollThePeople let’s @DNC know that many Democrats are not pleased with their trying to tilt the process and many will be alienated. But the whole debate structure is ridiculous. 75 sec for answers on questions of enormous portent. Town halls convey more detailed policy info. Challenging the notion that the DNC needs to winnow the field instead of voters is a point well taken (except by the DNC).
