Know the material. AKA, Know 4000 years of history and every in and out detail of the subject matter. That is your best weapon. Don't memorize facts, memorize concepts. Critical thinking to the max.

I just listened to one of your origin stories about being a substitute in HS. I totally relate. I was tapped to teach 8th grade earth science and it quickly evolved into mayhem, especially 5th hour. The prinicpal probably hated me for sending so many students to his office. Now, I am just a substitute again, working on my PTK and Chemistry. Without a doubt, I've seen one of the test makers prep questions on the actual exam in I'm 99 % sure the same format. Definitely focus on those problems. This is my second attempt at the math portion of EC-6 and I'm hoping to pass it this time around (fingers crossed).

I got a 200 on my praxis for Social Studies (ets even sent me a certificate), but now i have to take the MTEL and it's been revised with a lot of workd history content i've never studied. I'm feeling very intimidated by the exam and since i'm working now, i dont have a lot of time to learn all this new content. I hope your suggestions help me target the best way yo study.
