for one, the "omg deadpool plays ryan reynolds so well" meme has actually helped him sm, he's tied himself permanently to a pop culture icon, you see deadpool (which you will cuz it's a popular asf character) you think of ryan reynolds, you see ryan reynolds you think of his movie "deadpool" ryan can release anything with him in it, and deadpool fans are there by mass, he also started this style of short relevant sketch based ads while promoting the first deadpool movie (look up advertising for the first deadpool movie and you'll literally see him grow this skill, because i don't think anyone expected him to be as responsible for that movie's advertising as he was)
