This bass tone sounds like the batteries in your amp are dieing.

The octave pedal combined with the fretless sounds so dope

Pretty sure it should be a synthy sounding analogue octaver like a Boss OC-2 (or clone). The POG is very much a pitch shifter rather than an octave divider.

As for me a bit of chorus is missing from your take

People seem to forget they used a lot of compression. The producer in an interview said he turn everything to 10. It was compressed, gated and everything.

I think when he Levin does it live, he uses chorus as well. I saw a video about it on Scott’s Bass Lessons

I’ve been loving these videos! Is there any chance you could do a tutorial on Bob Weston’s legendary tone on Shellac’s “Copper?”

A little story. My friend Pete Levin, who is a fantasyic piano/synth master, gave me a birthday present once - he re-ardanged one of my songs, and "his brother Tony recorded bass for it". I FLIPPED OUT SIDEWAYS AND INSIDE OUT upon realisation, WHICH Tony that is... The song is on Bandcamp, i never promited it, and it was bought, maybe... 2 times? 4? I don't even know 😅 So there. Here is my story of total selfish misuse of giants of creativity. Ta-da.
