Kill 1 to save 100, but the 100 will in the end tell you that you are a monster!

Another problem was that the different Cities had different Fire hydrant Fittings which made it difficult for Fire Departments from a neighbouring Town or City to go to Coventry and help fight the Fires caused by the Incendiary Bombs, it was one of the reasons that Britain developed the standard Hydrant Fittings across the Country, my Grandfather was based in Britain during WW2 and talked about the Medieval Cathedrals, including St Michael the Archangel in Coventry that was destroyed by the Bombing and the later modern Cathedral that was built alongside the ruins of the Ancient Cathedral.

People forget that the people of convetry mostly refused to build bomb shelters as they thought they would never be bombed leading to the horrid death count

The sad truth is because of the lack of finance and foresight British air defence was pitiful. If the attack happened 2 Years later, as the mini blitz on London was they would have been able to meet the attack. So even if Churchill knew the precise details of the attack, what could he do. The RAF studied the Coventry attack and some other raids. The RAF refined some of the German tactics and paid it back in spades. They reaped the whirlwind.

It seems to be a Zeitgeist trend to attack people who did their best in the past, Churchill being one of the targets of people who have done little themselves for the ordinary person.

He definitely wasn’t a racist / Alcoholic and he definitely didn’t authorise the use of chemical weapons…

The cracking of the enigma code was huge but the one negative was that they couldn't stop everything. They had to select which attacks to stop cause if they went and stopped everything then the Germans would realise they cracked it and completely change the code in a few days

I'm glad someone is making the effort to rehabilitate Churchill. Nowadays it seems every ignoramus, every little man with a big chip on his shoulder, is eager to jump on the bandwagon and trash the old man. What a pity they don't feel any similar need to find about him - and find out what REALLY happened - first.

I'm from Coventry, ever kid brought up in the City are shown the horrors of the Blitz, not a building stood undamaged. It's true; Churchill moved AA to the city

Churchill made so many appalling decisions in his life in the name of Empire but he was a great war time leader and he was a good war time leader and steadfastly loyal to his country.

Please also debunk this myth that he diverted the food supplies meant to be for Bengal and it caused a famine which ultimately killed 4 millions Bengalis and when he was confronted about this he said “ They should not have breed like dogs.

If this was true, it wouldn't have surprised me. He ordered the destruction of the French fleets in Algiers and southern France, so he was capable of making such decisions.

I visited the Churchill museum in London in 2018. My recollection is it said Churchill found out about Coventry too late to do anything about it. Did Churchill move the anti-aircraft guns in response to a decoded Enigma message? Wikipedia says messages were intercepted three and four days before the major raid, and used the code word KORN for Coventry. Britain didn't yet know what KORN referred to.

He also sent troops in Tonypandy, good thing they didn't start shooting.
