I love the way you have separated the widescreen options. Thank you.

Thanks for the guide! I actually bought a Surface Duo 2 that features two 4:3 displays. Awesome for emulating GameCube without wide-screen workarounds, but every device I've owned before was/is 16:9 or wider, as is standard. That said, this is a helpful guide for anyone to use. I'm currently in the process of building an Ashida Wii/GameCube portable, with native Wii hardware, and I'll be using the Nintendont homebrew settings to toggle wide-screen for GC titles, as well as leveraging native widescreen supported titles. I've dabbled with GC on my Wii U before, but it'll be nice to play on a dedicated handheld.

I like this, but I'll stick to my laborious method...
I tend to learn more that way.
Awesome video!

You're like widescreen emulation Jesus.
Thank you man, your work is a real big help. Model 2 and 3 games are so much easier to just get in and play with your configs, all your configs in general are a great resource and I'm looking forward to Part 2 of this since I may end up downloading your config over my current one for Gamecube Widescreen.

If you ever get to PS2 emulation I'm curious how you'll do it there. I honestly don't have the patience to widescreen hack everything on PS2 since it requires so much browsing through PCSX2 forums and downloading each and every widescreen patch, turning it on, on bootup, and then having it work, so I've just left a significant part of my PCSX2 library unpatched until I get to each individual game I want to play through.

Any pointers for getting this to run on Android? I'm sure a lot of other retroid pocket 5 users could benefit

Also Wii has games that support widescreen (but not HD unlike Xbox 360 and PS3), but still, Wii was a success like the Switch, DS and PS2

This works beautifully, thanks for getting this all set up. I was wondering if this would work through Retroarch with the Dolphin core or is only for the standalone version of Dolphin?

Emulation is the only way I’d feel comfortable playing GameCube games on my TV. I hate black borders or stretching on 4:3 games, but emulation is the only option for most GameCube titles. It wouldn’t work natively on a real console, so I think a sleeper PC is the only way to get the best of both worlds. The problem with that is it’d be crazy expensive

I bought a retroid pocket 3+ just because of the number of widescreen options for retro games that exists now

Firstly this is my go to video for GameCube emulation, it makes such a huge difference. Bit of a long shot but have you tried the same codes with the Android version of Dolphin? To my eyes the games look stretched in 16:9 in Android Dolphin when they were perfect in Windows Dolphin. Do you know if the codes should work the same way?

Could you patch a rom to play widescreen on authentic hardware? Like a gamecube with an sd card mod

Also, where are the files available? Don’t see a way to download from the launchbox page 😢

Am I insane, or does switching to widescreen mode in these games just squish the pixels so that it looks fine in 16:9? Like– it's still outputting the same resolution, no extra horizontal pixels for the widescreen.
Am I seeing things? Or is this actually correct? (I'm mainly looking at F-Zero GX when I say this, because it's the only native widescreen game I own on GameCube)

Wondering if this would work with the android version of dolphin? Also have this on my steam deck and works great! Thanks
