I Don't mind admitting that this story scared the hell out of me. I was listening to it on the way home from town. I live in a rural area Missouri. My house is surrounded by trees and I live on a gravel road.. I pulled up to my house and was too scared to get out of the truck. I called my daughter, waking her up, and had her turn on the outside light and send my pitbull out to walk me in.. Lol. I'm 52 years old it's been a while since a story has scared me that bad. Excellent narration and great story. My daughter told me she is going to block all horror stories from my phone. Hahahaha Thanks.😈👻☠️👺🖤

That was a good one! He basically rationalized himself into his own demise lol, Great job Lighthouse!

You know, horror stories like this can really highlight the difference between rationality and rationalizing

Not all stones are there to mark a grave, some are placed to keep things sealed in. Robert essentially opened the gate, released what was sealed inside, and then closed the gate with them outside! He had no chance the moment he removed the lock.

the fact this story was being told in third person meant i knew our boi Robert was in for quite the horrific time and it certainly did not disappoint.

Now let’s say it all together now don’t take things that don’t belong to you.

As soon as he took the stuff, I audibly went "Damn it Robert."

“Pfft, that random hiker in the woods who seems to always be hiding and following me around couldn’t be a threat to me”

Now that is a story... Some choices cannot be undone and the consequences are irrevocable.

When Robert noticed that the "man" sitting in front of his fire, had his legs facing the fire yet his head and torso were twisted backwards, facing Robert’s tent and was staring directly at him…YIKES! That scared 😱 the living daylights out of me! I can still imagine what that would have looked like…! 99.5% of the time, scary story narrations or even scary movies don’t bother me or scare me AT ALL! Kudos to the author for writing such a truly CHILLING story and thank you LH for bringing it to life through your exceptional narration skills! I won’t ever forget this creepy tale! 😬

This is one of my favorite stories I have ever heard from you. I will come back to it every so often and still get a chill at the end!

I remember listening to this story many years ago when Michael Whitehouse the writer narrated it himself, Otis Jiary had a great narration of it as well.
Yours is equally fantastic Lighthouse!

Beware in lost and lonely places my friends... There are many old and ancient things residing in the dark corners of this world... And not all of them are quite as dead as you'd expect.

This one was one of my faves. I just came back from Scotland and had traveled the Highlands so I appreciated the description of the landscape.

This is my favorite Michael Whitehouse story, I've listened to it multiple times, first by Otis Jiry then found Michael Whitehouse himself narrating it, and now I'll listen to yours. This might be my absolute favorite short story.

Native Scot here again. I'm so happy you said Milngavie (pronounced milguy) correctly. I know I'm a bit of a nutter about it but it grates on me when people get it wrong, so thank you for that big chap.

This is one of the best told stories I have ever heard…. I know this was a year ago but I’m super duper impressed by the writer and the telling

Ghost enough to stalk him, but not man enough to just ask for its rock back. Lol. Good story. Exactly why i don't mess with sketchy or out of place things in the woods.

I live in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland and loved this story. It reminds me of the stories my grandmother used to tell me as a kid.
