"Rape is often more than a few minutes of trauma, but a slow death."

This.

Now I understand why her character in Westworld looks so strong and authentic. Her RAGE is REAL

One of my best friends at University once confided in me that she'd been raped at a young age. I pleaded with her to speak to a psychiatrist about it. She killed herself last year. The psychological wounds never healed for her. R.I.P. EC

Rape is unforgivable and rapists should not be allowed back into civilized society once apprehended and found guilty.

She didnt just show up to testify, *she wrote the bill.* A real big damn hero! I hope this gets passed in all 50 ASAP because everyone who has been assaulted deserves to have their rights respected. Live to you all.

I've had trauma patients tell me that it's not just the traumatic event, but how people react to it that traumatizes them. They bring their painful story to light, making themselves vulnerable, and people struggle with the difficult emotions and speculate on the truthfulness of the story or the character of the one who tells it. There is no other crime, where the character or behavior of the victim comes into question, rather than that of the perpetrator. We need to stop throwing rocks at the victims, punishing them for the things that have happened, as it is so disorienting to someone who has lost their trust to see a world that refuses to accept them or help them. We need to stop saying that only monsters rape, that if victims are so common that they are our family members, teachers, doctors and police officers, that surely the perpetrators can also be family members, teachers, doctors, and police officers. If we stop looking for monsters and start looking for human beings, then both the victims and those that support the victims can make sense of the crimes that occur everyday in our homes, our locker rooms, our classrooms and anywhere else trust exists.

There needs to be stronger legislation for the falsely accused.

I get why Manson fans are upset. I used to absolutely love this man and his music got me through a lot of things. But the signs that he’s the one talked about are clear, and the things this woman has survived are terrible. Even though it hurts to drop a musician that has got me through a lot, there is no way in hell that I will continue to support and abuser

If she has been acting since 5 years old, she was likely targeted for abuse even before Manson. Wood is incredibly brave to share her traumatic experiences to improve society.

yes, she is talking about Marilyn Manson. as someone who has admired Manson's work, I do not and never will stand by him and his work again. thank you Wood, for talking about your experiences. It's so hard to even tell a loved one about moments of abuse.

It pisses me off that many people still say things like "Why didn't they come forward sooner?". It takes a very long time/process for victims to get to that stage and it is a very normal textbook behavior. Perhaps all kids should be taught about the psychology of abusive relationships at early age so that we can prevent them from falling into one. Most of us don't know much about abusive relationships growing up, and relationships in general are way too romanticized by movies. So when we are actually in the position of being abused, we get confused and can't even recognize it as abuse. Having prior knowledge would help enormously.

In February 2018 and in April 2019, Wood gave sworn testimony before the U.S.
Congress and the California State Senate in support ofproposed legislation with which she and the
Phoenix Act were affiliated. She testified that she had been raped once by a significant other and
again "by another attacker after hours at a bar, " but she did not name either ofthem.
16. Around this time, Wood and Gore conspired about how Wood and others could
accuse Warner of abuse. Days before her testimony to the California State Senate, Wood
incorporated the Phoenix Act. She serves as its CEO, CFO, and corporate secretary. Gore has
been employed by the Phoenix Act since approximately 2019.
17. Since at least 2019, Gore has been mired in significant financial troubles. For
example, her family members have presented evidence that Gore committed crimes ofidentity
theft by opening credit card accounts in the names of her twin sister and deceased mother; and
borrowed money from an elderly family member under false pretenses, claiming that it was to
assist with the purchase of a house, which Gore never carried out. Gore wrote in a notebook left
with her family that her goal of being involved with the Phoenix Act was to "make money"

When she said "Being raped previously made it easier for me to be raped again, not the other way around" I felt that.. I felt all of this. It's impossible to deny that her allegations are true, because one doesn't speak like this about it without actually experiencing it.

I wish we could treat ourselves like children and say, “I didn’t know what was happening, but it hurt me and I wanted to stop. I wasn’t saying no because I was afraid, insecure and inexperienced. I didn’t say “yes” or “please do this”, even though I didn’t say “stop.” We need protection, laws and avenues for eliminating abuse. Period. Stop.

I was sexually assaulted when I was 13 by a man in his mid 40's and the few times I go into detail about it, I don't make it poetic like this. It sounds similar to Amber's testimony. I'm not sure about this. I'm not saying she's lying or that he's guilty. Definitely have to wait until evidence comes out. Right now I've read things about FBI impersonation and scripts being handed out, so not sure what to think right now.
