Asatoma Sadgamaya Invocation
Om asatoma (Sanskrit: ॐ असतो मा ) — sometimes referred to as Om asatoma sadgamaya — is the opening line to an ancient universal prayer, which is part of the Pavamana Mantra from the Brhadaranyaka Upanishad. The translation of the entire mantra is: "Lead us from ignorance to knowledge, from darkness to light and from death to immortality." It is used as a purifying prayer which is chanted for the wellbeing of oneself or for humanity.

The complete mantra is as follows:

Om asato ma sadgamaya
Tamaso ma jyotir gamaya
Mrtyor ma amrtam gamaya
Om shanti shanti shanti

ॐ असतो मा सद् गमय

तमसो मा ज्योतिर् गमय

मृत्योर् माम्रतं गमय

ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः

From ignorance, lead me to truth;

From darkness, lead me to light;

From death, lead me to immortality

Om peace, peace, peace

I usually overlook meanings when it comes to songs or chants of any kind (only pay heed to them when I don't understand what they mean at all) .. Like I just go with the vibe or mood of the place I'm in.. But this particular invocation holds so much power.. It's like asking God to move me towards what's good. And I actually do need truth, light, and immortality (not in human form ofc) .. So yeah this speaks a lot to me. I had literal chills when I heard it in IE and saw the meaning.
