Now that Cormack fella is some kind of genius, I'm no nerd and the chat said he was boring and all that stuff but he had me glued to the stream for the whole session. i must admit I didn't understand everything he was saying but his enthusiasm for his work, the Quest and us really had my attention and I look forward to the future of his work. A lot of folk don't think VR is rapidly improving but look whats happened in months not

I still have hope that Rift S will get hand tracking at some point after its implemented on the quest successfully. Though its gonna be awesome to use the Quest for PCVR experiences sometimes and native hand tracking support really suites the Quest.

To be perfectly honest, it's kind of a jerk move for Facebook to make the Rift S as redundant as it is. How is it even _possible_ for it to be the same price as the quest anymore? It's a quest, but without the entire internal computer and battery, adjustable IPD lenses and OLED display. The overall build quality is cheaper too (with a complete lack of fabric), although then again, that's likely Lenovo at fault (but then again again, Facebook _approved_ the design, so they clearly don't care). And with the new hand tracking + link cable, the Quest has officially surpassed what was intended to be the "high end" oculus solution. I don't even _own_ a Rift S and I'm upset.

I got the quest first, was great but realized I couldn't play steam VR games. So I also got a rift S for those games I had already bought on steam VR. Then I find out about this, I got mixed feelings. On one hand, I finally get to use my quest that I haven't touched in a while. On the other, it kinda makes my rift S pointless, either way, I still get to play with friends if they need one.

the hand gestures on the Quest are using the DSP "Digital sound processing" processor, on the SOC

- as people point out the Quest cameras are low resolution, so a fast cpu designed for sound is ideal for low resolution image processing and analysing using AI algorithms.

Makes sense that finger tracking is available on the quest before the Rift S. There’s a larger user base for the quest so consumer feedback will be greater.

Im not gonna bag on Rift S users cos yea i can see them pretty much investing in a headset that seems to be left behind, but i will say im glad after Upgrading my PC to pretty much be fully up to date on all thats inside it i didnt pick the Rift S because since buying the Quest ive loved it and play it pretty often, and now with the Quest Link and now the info on the Steam VR being able to be used i really cant wait till November to finally play Skyrim, Fallout and many other VR games on the Quest.
