Timothy Jordan Introduces Android Auto. Android Auto brings the Android platform to the car in a way that's optimized for the driving experience. It's the same Google platform you already use for phones, tablets, televisions, watches, and more. In fact, all these experiences will often be in the same APK. But now, your app can also extend to the car in a way that's safer and more efficient for the driver. So drivers can stay connected with their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road.

Using Android Auto is easy. Users go to the Google Play store and download apps that support Android Auto onto their phone.. When they connect their phone to the car, the phone goes into car mode and casts the Android Auto experience to the car's screen. This means that although all the apps and services are actually running on the phone, they're displayed in the car's dash. Users interact with them using the vehicle's controls such as a built-in touchscreen and microphone.

This is cool, much cooler than android wear i think. Wear is cool, dont get me wrong, but this is utterly cool.

Im surprised that they have gone down the usb/mirroring route, processing is so cheap now, although it should make the equipment in the car cheap.

the downside is that its probably going to be years before its common place in cars and as per normal you can bet your arse the manufacturers will only jump on the apple version then it will be even more years until a car i would buy will have one fitted as stock.

on the upside, the fact the processing is done on the phone means there is hope that aftermarket "headunits" shouldn't be too expensive <fingers crossed>

Android Auto is a great way for folks on four wheels to stay connected. What about those on motorcycles? Since the trend of tending to needs of drivers and their occupants has increased dramatically, us motorcyclists are left out to dry. Yes, we can opt to add third party devices (bluetooth headsets and GPS) and even trying to search for the perfect fit and style based on riding style, but up until connectivity has boomed in the last decade, car/truck driving was given the same choices. Either give motorcycle companies the chance to weigh in on options and choices or use avid motorcyclists that would rather two wheels instead of four a say in this matter. #AndroidAutoformotorcycles   #AndroidAuto

While technology is cool, it is a great distraction for driver to navigate through dash-board screen to reach-out to his notifications. The presenter started with the dangers of using a mobile while driving, but interactive screen such as this is nothing less distracting. Ideal would be to have steering mounted controls. If that is far from realization due to auto-mobile compatibility, think of an accessory to steering, with hard buttons to touch and feel

I have a chevrolet cruze LT 2011, I bought in China and put a central multimedia with Android 4.2.2 jelly bean, it happened that one day, when turning on multimedia, appeared the image of Android, the little robot, as it always was, but this timeIt was in that picture, already makes about 15 days which is the same problem, not out of the boot screen, already tried the reset button which is on the panel, next to the display. I need a new OS to reinstall, someone help me?
