Round 1: Stevie said that it worked because of an increase in pressure. Actually, the candle burning the alcohol consumes the oxygen in the jar, which causes a sudden *reduction* in the pressure inside the jar. Liquid then gets rapidly pushed in by the outside air pressure to fill the void.
