Here's a killer lick that is inspired by the great Swedish jazz guitar player Ulf Wakenius.

Ulf played with Oscar Peterson for years and he must have been so inspired and learnt so much from Oscar. This lick is totally something Oscar Peterson would play too.

You can use this lick over any major or dominant 7th chord in your solos to really kick ass and sound right on top of it!

It's Bluesy - Boppy and right in the pocket.

Like in the video take each bit of the lick sparsely and loop it till you have it smooth. Then move to the next bit.

There's nothing worse than fluffing these kind of licks so you need to learn them slowly and practice them in slow motion before you get them up to tempo.

Swing Out!
Robin

Thanks alot for all these
Tips for next videos: more licks, substituitions theory, understanding how to improvise over chord changes.
all i learn is from youtube, im from brasil, and even a gypsy guitar is impossible to find =/
but i leant from stealing licks from all videos i see, the player i love the most is ANGELO DEBARRE.
f you can doo some lesson on his style i would LOVE.
I now can play and improvise over 25 songs in my 7 months learning this style from scratch. I was a blues player and knew only blues, not one single arpegio, now i know very well the picking style, and how to freely improvise, as im full time dedicated to music, i learnt some theory too, some basic substituition concepts like diatonal and tritonal. but i need more info and cant find on augmented, and some other things i hear from people playing but have no idea what it is, like mixing scales arpegios and subs on chord changes . most recentlyt i learnt Danse norvegiene. i love improvising on it, but on the fsharp7b5 - B7 style progressions i kinda get clueless, only doing diminished arpegios. Anyway, LOVE THIS STYLE AND WANT TO LEARN MUCH MORE
thanks again

Hi robin and thanks for your videos! Many teachers suggest to gently brush 2 or 3 fingers of the picking hand on the guitar body for positioning, while it seems from here that your hand floats completely free on the strings. How do you do that? You're brushing your fingers on the strings instead? Would you mind covering this topic someday? (I may very well have missed it if you did it already) Thank you again!

Thanks Robin, awesome wee line. I think that'd be worth learning in other string sets, as well as different positions which you've already said to do. Is that something you do yourself when learning a new line?Cheers from Scotland !
