We have the same problem in Canada. Our intelligence agency, CSIS, actually named the mayor of Vancouver Ken Sim, and city councillor Lenny Zhou as being elected with foreign interference from Peoples Republic of China (PRC). The mayor and councillor claim "racism" and are still in office. PRC has many fingers in Canadian politics.

The situation at the universities is also a problem. In some research projects, students from China form their own groups that communicate very little with other researchers and try to extract as much findings as possible. The strategy is to undermine the open society with its own strengths: openness and trust are exploited to strengthen a totalitarian system.

Why should China take heed of Britain? It's a small country, little to do with world affairs 😅

Very good report! The world has to realize that the time of economic growth is not a real goal to go for anymore. The main goals for as a nation are safety, minimum livelihood, and security. Our time of pride and luxury is over.

Ok, Chinese is, understandably, not spying on UK tec or industry sectors. But what could they get from the parliament? Some backdoor discussions among the politicians of a less and less significant country of the world?
