Hello.
Sorry for being away for so long. This summer is a lot busier than I expected.
BUT I’m back with some new interesting coins!
1st of July was a special day in European Union – a 2 euro coin was released common for all 19 eurozone countries. This coin commemorates 35 year anniversary of ERASMUS programme which is one of the most popular international exchange programmes in the area of education and training. Turns out it was created the same year as I was born.
Of course, I got Latvia’s coins variation from the National Bank of Latvia. And I got them in rolls and coin cards. This time limit for one purchase was one roll and three coin cards.
By the way design of this coin was determined in a contest where any Eurozone country citizen could vote for the coins design. This design beat five other designs with around 22 thousand votes out of 70 thousand and was created by French artist Joaquin Jimenez.
The coin depicts Erasmus who was a Dutch philosopher and Catholic theologian who is considered one of the greatest scholars of the northern Renaissance. And also beams that come out of each of the start around the coin and they represent the numerous intellectual and human exchanges between the European students.
I like this design! It has quite interesting meaning behind it. Let me know in the comments if You also like this one 😉
I also did make a new larger coin holder for my Latvia coins as with financial literacy coin the previous version had reached it’s capacity. I can’t peel of the protective film as this on one other coin holders have been prepared as gifts and will be given to their new owners in few days. I’ll have to make one for my self a bit later :D
But that’s not all regarding the new Erasmus coin. I also got them from Estonia as the shop is quite easily accessible to me. From there I also got a roll an three coin cards.
Estonians always stand out with their coin cards as they are different as most coin cards and resemble small folders, but thus they are also more expensive.
Nonetheless nice coin cards design!
This is the first time I see a roll from other country so I did a little comparison.
Yep, the coin only difference is the country name on them. BUT I still will need to collect all 19 variations of this coin!
That said I also ordered few coin from Germany. But to reduce shipping costs I also got few coin from Belgium that I needed.
Got two coin cards. Their only difference is in writings on the coin card – one is Dutch and the other is French.
And coin in capsule one day will be placed in my Belgium coin holder which I still need to make one day.
But the main reason for this purchase was of course the Erasmus coins – all five of them – because Germany has five different mints. Not like other countries – Germany doesn’t have its name on it, but just the letter D for Deutschland and on sleeve of Erasmus is depicted mints letter.
With this I have 3 countries out of 19. Still a lot of coins to get most likely trough swapping from now on.
And there is one old debt I need to settle. On my last coin hunt video, I promised a coin holders giveaway. And finally, day has come to deliver it. We have 22 participants. I’ll add them to the fortune wheel and let’s go!
And the winner is MARIANA GOMES!
Congratulations!
