“What is a human?” An all-star staff including writer Hirotaka Adachi (aka Otsuichi), character designer Yoshitaka Amano, composer Ryuichi Sakamoto and director Yuzo Sato presents a completely original space horror sci-fi story!

In the far future, humanity has been driven from Earth and forced to move its population to another galaxy. Members of a scouting team are sent to search for a planet suitable for terraforming. The crew is created through a biological 3D printer, but a system malfunction causes one of the crew members, Lewis, to emerge in a deformed state. As Lewis turns on his fellow crew members Nina, Mack, Patty and Oscar, a countdown to the end of the mission begins in the frightening darkness of the ship.

Randomly browsing Netflix and found this gem. Animation was different at first but story kept me intrigued. Binged it immediately in one sitting and it was worth it. By the end of the show, I appreciated the art style and loved how the story and plots weren't so predictable like similar shows. For me, a 10/10.

Just watched, amazing series. Haven't seen sci-fi this good in a while.
I'm afraid a lot of viewers might overlook this gem because of experimental visuals, but it took me about half an episode to get used to it and start to appreciate. Praise from me for trying new ways of expression.

If you like a scifi which makes you think(and feel!), but with unique vibes and atmosphere, this series is amazing. I can imagine it won't sit well with many people, those who are mostly after fun and production values, or just don't vibe with the art style. I fell in love with it right away, and as I'm usually critical and scrutinizing of character writing - I almost didn't care in this one. Everything else just clicked in for me - 9/10.

It could have been better in 2d for more fluid movements. Lewis character design is my fave. The voice for the creature Lewis gave me chills. The music is amazing. Overall, I think I will watch it.

Amano is a brilliant artist, but it's hard for me to imagine how this anime series will turn out. it looks unusual, but I hope the plot will be interesting.

I'm at episode 6 and this is a pretty good Scifi mystery anime. The animation really is clunky though. It's too bad they didn't work on that because people aren't giving this a chance. For me, the plot, dialogue and music make this worth watching

I highly recommend giving this show a shot. I didn't care for the animation at first and nearly turned it off after a few minutes but I kept watching and ended up finishing the show in a single sitting.

The story is deeply moving and "tender". For me, it cut straight to the heart because I often think about the questions it raises like what it means to be human, what our purpose is, the nature of reality, ethical dilemmas, etc. I could just be a sucker for that stuff but the story has so many twists and turns that I genuinely did not see them coming.

its rare for me to find something i truely enjoyed and couldn't stop watching. this gets a super like from me. and if i can be honest as an old school final fantasy fan this scratched an itch i haven't had scratched in a while. the fantasy design in this show wonderful. i have learned to ignore the "2D over 3D" people cus while i enjoy 2D works there are sooo many great stories to be watched if you give them a chance, this being one of them.

When producing 2D animation, studios carefully choose their spatial camera placement, orientation, and motion. Many times one can "feel" the camera that would produce such visual result, even when looking at traditional 2D anime. I wish studios that use 3D animation would mimic 2D angles and cinematography choices in general.

Had absolutely no expectations for this show. Sure, amanos behind it but the designs still looked kinda wonky for me. Animation looked a little janky as well. But boy i was wrong, this has got to be one of my favorites anime from this year. Nicely done Netflix, this is so good ass sci Fi
