My grandmother was really angry. “What do you mean You sold Penelope? What do you think this kid is? Some kind of second hand furniture?”

My aunt said dismissively, “How many times have I told you? I can’t take care of her on a maid’s salary. This is a wonderful opportunity for Penelope. She’s going to live with a millionaire family.”

Meanwhile, I was packing my suitcase in tears.

Grandma said, “Please don’t cry, honey. I’m going to find a job and an apartment to take you in with me,” in hopes of making me feel better.

“Who will hire you at your age? Don’t get her hopes up for no reason,” my aunt replied.

Nah lucas can memorize every single book he read. I can't even remember what I walk in the kitchen for

I can understand the Aunt, raising kid by yourself is a lot of responsibility and if you have a low paying job, rent and bills can really restrict your options

I love this plot! Also, I thought it was a great risk to focus less on the main character and on someone with autism, which just warms my heart when she praised him! Plus, I think that that horrid stepmother is 100% a gold digger. She has dyed hair, eyeshadow and clothes I've never ever seen on this channel before. Amyazing!

I’m in the process of getting an autism diagnosis and this warms my heart. My brother is autistic and he was used to being bullied. Thank you for bringing up this subject!

As an autistic person myself, I found this to be incredibly interesting. He’s like the younger version of The Good Doctor or, better yet, Sheldon Cooper

I had ADHD and it was only 5 months ago when I realized I can use it to my advantage instead of seeing it as a disability

A selfish gold-digging woman like Lucas's stepmother will never understand someone like Lucas or anyone else. Lucas is a fantastic person and I am glad his father brought the main girl into his life. She gave him the confidence to be himself and prove to everyone that he was just as normal as they were. His selfish self obsessed gold-digger stepmother would know that if she spent time with him and wasn't such a gold digger. It was funny when Lucas's dad threw her out. He finally realized why he couldn't see the good in his son's potential.
