Giant concrete dominoes fall to start UK festival - BBC News

More than 7,000 concrete dominoes have fallen to start the 250th Norfolk and Norwich Festival.

The dominoes stretched between Anglia Square and The Forum in Norwich, with some even going through homes and buildings.

Artist Julian Maynard Smith said the artwork, which has been replicated across cities of the world since 2009, grew out of an initial idea to connect boroughs of London.

Each concrete domino weighed about 17lbs (8kg). The 1.6-mile (2.5km) toppling lasted about 30 minutes.

I love how the BBC both sped up the film and continually covered the key parts of shots with words on this thing people spent a load of time on and then when they didn’t even show the final blocks falling at the end, just the cherry on the sundae of taking the p*ss out of a cool thing.

The trick with a domino stunt is getting the right speed. They should play around with the weight of the elements a bit to get the speed up.
