I honestly don’t care about the name change. Keep the quality and price and it’s all good.

It's like Dunkin' Donuts going to Dunkin'. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, Luke.

Corporations don't change their names without a compelling reason. I would expect to see more headlines from Teton soon.

I'd love to hear more about any new gear from Teton! I had not thought about them recently, till I watched some of your videos wherein you discussed their gear. That re-ignited my interest. The name change is NOT ideal from an SEO standpoint. A search for "Teton" only is going to bring up a lot of noise. Teton Gear, Teton Lifestyle (also ambiguous, but a term they use, themselves, on their "About Us" page) Teton Adventures, any of those would be preferable from a potential customer's perspective, simply because searching "Teton" is not going to get you far, unless you have a specific item of Teton gear for which you've searched. I wouldn't call them a heritage company, simply because they haven't been around as long as some big names. However, they are certainly recognized for solid gear at a good (to very good) price point. The reputation they've already garnered may help carry them through what is, in my opinion, an ill-advised name change. One word may seem stronger, but if a new generation of adventurers (campers, etc.) can't find you in a crowded internet landscape, that strength will go unnoticed. That's bad for business. Really bad, as younger folks getting into the out (lol - a "Home" movie pun, iykyk) are probably a big contingent of their target customer, or should be, due to price, . Those folks may not know which article of gear to search, if they don't know Teton already. So my verdict is a very good company made a very bad choice on their biggest brand capital: their name. Thanks for asking, and posting about this!

When I hear Teton, I automatically think of the Gran Tetons, mountains, and the outdoors. I enjoy your videos. I'm amazed at how much rain you get in WNC.

The phrase "Outdoor adventuring" has been around for at least 85 years, and #outdooradventuring has been a hash tag since two years before this channel appeared. There's been an outdoor adventuring group in Flickr since 2008 and any Google search will reveal an abundance of evidence that this phrase was being used prior to the first time it was uttered in a video on this channel.

Also, I just bought the Mountain Ultra 2P tent direct from the company a few weeks ago, as per a recommend from this channel, when it dropped to about $104 the night of the last day of REI's big annual sale. I have not yet had a chance to take it out other than to set it up. It's 80" length DOES feel on the short side and I'm 5'9", and the door vents seem kind of worthless. Since you don't really even entertain the thought of taking a tent that heavy (7#+) hiking, I just went all-out and rather than spending $18 for a footprint, bought a heavy-duty silver/grey tarp (7.5x5.5) for $4.50. 🤣

Take care.

I love Teton, as you said decent prices and good gear. Found the brand 10 years ago, bought one backpack and loved it. I got coyote tan explorer 3400. Sturdy support along with side pockets and gear loops.
They’ve come in handy. The funny thing is I wasn’t expecting much, that backpack is still going strong. (Only a few loose threads through a lot usage).
Please review more of their gear to keep us all updated.

A Teton Sports pack was my first hiking backpack. Enjoyed it then, would love to see their new stuff now. 👍🏼

I have the 4 person mountain and the 3 person, I always just called it Teton. Like you said, I'm glad they are sticking around, I love their stuff.

I think it’s a good move to have shorten the name. When I first heard of the company I thought they carried other sports equipment besides backpacking and camping with the word sports in it. Baseball, Hockey, etc…
I Just started backpacking after a 30 + year hiatus. A lot of things have changed. I purchased the Teton scout 3400 last year. One because it was cheap and I didn’t know how much backpacking I was really going to do. I used it for the first time last weekend and I love it. It’s perfect. Nice pack at a great price.

If I was advising them on branding, I would have advised them to do as they did. I think that they went with just Teton for a couple of reasons: 1) Teton (Teton Sports) is now an established name and can survive in an abbreviated fashion. For example, we all know who Osprey is - not need for "Osprey Outdoors" or something like that. Even new users asking about "Teton" will quickly hear that they are a good company with good products. 2) I suspect that they wanted the flexibility that comes from a shorter, less-descriptive name as it doesn't restrict their product offerings. This could allow them to broaden their product offerings under the more generic Teton name. In fact, Teton could become a holding company with various Teton entities underneath, should then chose to create specialized product offerings for various vertical markets. For example, they could add "Teton Outdoors" to encompass their hiking/camping equipment, but then add "Teton Lights" if they got into flashlight manufacturing as flashlights serve a multitude of indoor uses as well (although I'd probably still be buying Olight).

Used to have their xl cot tent combo and it was great quality. Swapped over to the Kamp-Rite tent cot as it was a faster setup since it was truly an all in one setup.

That being said, had I not found it, I would still be using Teton’s setup.

I would like to see to see a review of Sunyear camping gear. I have used their camping hammocks for a few years now and have no complaints. I have made one warranty call and they were on point with no questions asked. I think this company is worth mentioning. I am interested in how their other gear stands up. They have a lifetime waranty by the way
