Heres my approach to 2d fire animation 🔥🔥🔥 based on still image. Stylized fire done frame by frame in toonboom harmony premium. Its really important to simplify it as much as its possible to not get distracted by tiny bits that are flying around... As well as trying to animate it part by part based on the base animation on simplified animation. That should help you manage more complicated shapes in a very easy way and leaves almost no room for mistakes if you will make that base correctly. Animating fire is fun and i recommend to try it! Well... Every single 2Dfx is fun and that's why i love making them!

Tip: if you want more intense flame just remove 1 frame every 2 frames

I just watched your video on flames.. awesome.. I'm trying to figure out how to make flames but for stop motion.. I have a cave scene, my pumpkin character in the cave, and cave fire, and I tried lots of different materials so far, wool, gold wire .. but I can't get the shape and flow right.. I think my approach is too chaotic, I'm thinking I need to create template of the basic shapes of the flames on paper and then cut them out and use that to guide me to lay out the wool or wire or whatever I want to use to create it..
