Shenseea, whose true name is Chinsea Linda Lee, is a Jamaican dancehall singer and DJ. She was born on October 1, 1996 in Kingston, Jamaica, and raised in St. Mary. Shenseea grew up in a mixed family, with an Afro-Jamaican mother and a Korean father. Despite being estranged from her father, her cultural heritage greatly influenced her musical approach. She began as a promotion girl before getting signed by Lemuel Samuel's Rockstar. She rose to prominence after remixing Vybz Kartel's hit song "Loodi" and playing on a side stage at Reggae Sumfest in 2015. In addition to dancehall, she has demonstrated freestyle rap skills. Shenseea's career took off in 2021 when she partnered with Kanye West on his album Donda, performing on the tracks "Pure Souls" with Roddy Ricch and "Ok Ok Pt 2" with Rooga. This collaboration garnered her a nomination for Album of the Year as a featured artist at the 64th Grammy Awards in 2022, her first ever. She also won Best Reggae Act at the 2021 MOBO Awards.
