I still use mine in my studio, love the lo fi sounds, the little FM synth is surprisingly good for creating almost DX7 sounds and the drums are nice crunchy for backing over a dance beat, the synth toms are great and all the different accompaniment styles are actually good to learn how to recreate them

I had one to mess around with from the late 80s into the early 90s. I never recorded anything with it, though. Wasn't really up to that level. I do sort of miss it, just nostalgia, though. I believe I had a Yamaha DX-100 at the same time. Was quite a bit more versitile with it's 4 operator FM engine (PSS only had 2 operators, which is worse that the 3 operators in a Sound Blaster Sound Card). I also had a DX-7 at one point, and I now have a Motif with a DX-7 plugin card. DX-7 has 6 operators, and even that is a bit limiting for my taste. I have a MODX+ on the way here now, with 8 operators in it's FM-X engine. One thing the PSS had, though, was the PCM sampled drums, which for the day, weren't too bad. 8-bit though, but for drums, the white noise isn't too bad. You hear music today where they purposefully dirty up the drums. But for something coming out in 1988, sampled sounds was amazing. Memory was expensive back then, even ROM memory. That was almost a decade before audio compression. Simply because compute power just wasn't there to decompress it live.

Hello, I have a question.
I'm considering buying a PSS-680 today, but I have a problem I can't find an answer to, can I use this MIDI-enabled keyboard in programs like "FL Studio", "Mixcraft" - to play instruments in the program?
