Thanks man! I've been wanting to do this since I was about 16. I'm 28 now but finally at a place where I'm comfortable with my playing and over the years got the gear together. Time to put it all together!

You're welcome! I hope they help! I wanted to start out pretty simple and get deeper into recording as we go!
Good luck with the channel and the drumming :D

I've tried with as mic on the top and the bottom, but I prefer the sound of just the top microphone for this YouTube application and the general audience feels the same way, I get quite as few compliments on the snare sound, so I've kept it. It also depends on the speakers you listen through though.

You can find the Firestudio Tube on Ebay or other sites. It was discontinued when I got mine but there were plenty of options to choose from to purchase.

I say every day as in each day. I would not incorrectly quote something so easily visible to everyone who views YouTube. I am definitely not the third most subscribed and viewed overall yet, It's simply a way for me to establish credibility as a teacher and instructor to those who may be watching a video of mine for the first time. Basically explaining who I am so that people understand how I know and have learned what I'm talking about.

If you get XLR to 1/4" converters and use those on your 3 least used mic channels, then it will definitely work, but there are only 10 designated mic XLR channels.

Yes, all 3 of these need a computer with a Digital Audio Workstation/Recording Software hooked up to record. I use Logic Pro, but almost any D.A.W. will work with any of those devices.

I've got the song imported into the recording program I'm using on my computer and play along to it there.

I recommend the Presonus firestudio project. It does an awesome job and It will allow you to record great videos.

Oh My god thank you for this tutorial! I love your covers because you really bring the best out in the shitty songs that are out today. Lol. I'm a drummer myself and you're an inspiration for my drum channel that I never managed to get off the ground. This might be the lift I need. Thanks So Much!

audio interface or mixer
mics (3+ if you want a good sound)
Digital audio workstation (like pro tools)
or you could use a USB mic straight into your computer but that would only let you use one mic at a time

Well, its helpful to have pro tools, but it's also nice to have a full size 8-channel interface. Do you have any other recording software?

Yep, a video or two on microphone choice and use will be coming soon :)

This is excellent. Been trying hard to find a video that does the basics of tying it all together. I have question, please. What is it that actually powers the PA/Speakers? Is it a pre-amp, the speakers themselves? I have two very large speakers that are self-powered.

I had an old Traynor that was 4 channels that I would have used like your yamaha. With that I was hoping to record drums sepretly then lets say guitar, bass, vocals. But apparently I was "dumb" to think that would work (My computer did take with the really crappy freware known as audacity) Good to know that when I had the mixer I wasn't way off in my thinking. Thanks. (btw I'm really into recording and I'm a bass player)
