A Male and female dynamic that isn't romantic is great but also they are soul mates. Friend soulmate are fantastic.

As cute as the connection between Ellie and Aster was, it was the friendship between Paul and Ellie that made me ugly cry. It's so rare to see platonic relationships framed as just as vital and epic as any romantic relationship.

Their friendship is so pure. I really loved how their friendship progressed throughout the movie. Ellie taught Paul about what real love, even though she developed feelings for Aster. She also taught him to be truly himself. The movie itself focuses more on friendship more than romance, which I really like.

I loved how they showed love. Love of friends. They choose to understand eachother. They made the effort. By chance then began to get close, but they remain friends because of efforts. He helped her be herself. She had a place with them. I love platonic relationships. This is what I mean when I tell my friends I love them.

I love the scene where Paul's mon says "I love you even if you're gay, son." But when he says that he might change the taco recipe she gets all defensive 😂 It really shows how far we've come and it really warms my heart to see these small moments of acceptance.

Paul is such a puppy. Energetic, sweet, and supportive. The kiss scene crushed me because I thought he already knew how she felt. But his speech in church was amazing. Their kind of friendship is amazing and needs to be seen more

They crafted these character so well. Like, people probably Ended up shipping Aster with Ellie, but still was rooting for Paul to be happy and then it made us go crazy because we don't want Ellie or Paul heartbroken and then next thing you know our houses are burning!

The reason why society is so conditioned to "ship" characters romantically is because for the longest of time film only depicted romantic relationships as a "special type of bond", of course we see solid friendship stories but they are few and far between . the phrase "I do not want to be friends i want to be more" is so annoying, cause it insinuates that being romantic with someone trumps being platonic with someone every time. instead we should stop ranking our "bonds" with people and equally celebrate all the different ways we bond and love . This movie shows how Ellie comes to love Aster and Paul equally if differently. it did not brush Paul to the side as " the friend" and make an epic thing of Aster and Ellie "ending up together". Instead we end this movie knowing that they both mean a lot to her, both bonds are celebrated, and some would say her last scene with Paul is super epic cause at that point their bond is super established while with aster they leave with the promise of a bright future for these two. and honestly it does not even matter who is it she kisses or does not kiss anymore, cause we know that what matters, which is "pure love" is there between all of them. I not for once felt the need for Paul and Ellie to get involved romantically.. what these two characters had was so special and strong and it was their own unique bond, it was as epic as a sweeping romance without HAVING TO BE ONE. if we make more movies celebrating all the different bonds we make without solely focusing on the romantic ones as the ultimate goal... then we will find out that with time we will stop these aggressive "ship" wars... and start celebrating all different kinds of love. cause they all matter EQUALLY! In life those of us lucky enough to have such friendships, love our friends as much as we do our partners... it is just different... not better nor worse.. just different and equally strong and beautiful. Who do you end up kissing is not the prize. living your life knowing that you have both a Paul and an Aster... equally present and important... their love is the prize.

I found this movie so interesting! As the movie progressed, I just loved watching their friendship progress and they had developed a bond. They were soulmates and developed a friendship for one another where they truly do love each other. Paul wanted to do what he could for Ellie and Ellie wanted to do what she could for Paul. I hope they have sequel cause the way the movie ended.

This movie made me so, so happy. I definitely relate to Paul, and my best friend was always my Ellie. People always assumed that we were in love with each other because I’m a girl and he’s a guy lol but this movie is just another example that friendship between a guy and a girl *doesn’t* always end in a relationship. And that there’s so many more ways to love than just romantically. I loved him, so, so, so much. No matter how what, he’ll always be my soulmate in every sense of the word. I hope he still remembers me wherever he is. Because I’ll never forget him

I love the way she says ‘moron’ like we’re not entirely sure who she’s calling a moron- herself or him

I love that they show that they love each other in a beautiful platonic way that isn't romantic but still really strong.

Gosh, I sure do love this FRIENDSHIP, I'm really glad that they are such close FRIENDS, I really hope that people don't completely misinterpret the meaning of the movie by complaining that they didn't end up together or that Ellie would have been better off with Paul, because MAN that would suck.

Signing off as an irritated aromantic

I really loved this movie.. I think Aster also had a crush on Ellie, I mean the way that she looks at her and all.. It's just that Aster grew up in a home that conforms to religious belief. And when Ellie kissed her she was happy, snd it's like everytime they meet Aster was somehow expecting or waiting for Ellis to kiss her.

I really loved this movie. It's so rare to find a movie were you don't dislike any of the characters. All the main characters are special in their own way. Not gonna lie...I wanted them to be in a polyamorous relationship 😅 but I'm still happy with the ending. It fits the characters completely ❤
