I love this feature. I recently had to create a power BI report as a case study for the 2nd part of a job application. I presented my methodology and development on PowerPoint including embedding the summary page of my report in the PowerPoint presentation to review with the interviewers. Whole thing was slick as hell and was well received. Oh and I got the job.

Is there a way to hide all of the icons (and the "Back to report" arrow) when a single chart/visual is shown in focus mode?

This new functionality could be a massive time saver but what's keeping me from implementing it is the fact that when opening the presentation, PowerPoint will only load the embedded pbi reports when clicking on that specific slide. Which can take 2/3 seconds by slide - not that great when a user wants to quickly review a 20 page pptx.

Is there any way to force Powerpoint to load all embedded pbi pages when opening the presentation? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

This feels like a great option for reporting to executives that don’t want to open a link. I’d probably format specifically for use in a PPT but this is a really nice new feature

I have been playing with this feature a bit and love the idea of it. I am still trying to learn how to work though typical business workflows. How would you handle this example?

Let's say that you have a monthly financial slide deck that you have to report out every period. You want to embed your financial Power BI views but, using Power Point, tease out the key notes / ideas via text on the side. You also want this to be a template that you can rapidly update every month. Using Power BI embedded in Power Point sounds great. Cool. However, in that process, you run into a few questions:

How can I wire all of these visual together where I can just change the period and all of them update simultaneously? Best answer so far: rework the default period selector to the concept of "Last Complete Period". Then it updates itself. Not so easy to do on non-date fields like location or business unit.

How can I export a copy of the Power Point w/ Power BI Embedded so that everything is a static copy? This is important so that you can keep an archive of each monthly financial deck & comments on your team site. You can technically use the show as image button, but I can't do that in mass. Also, I am a little worried about the future when the link expires, the filters are lost, the report changes, etc. Does the image still remain the same? I could print this deck of as an image but I almost wish I could print this deck back into a power point format, but have all the reports as their static image.

Any suggestions on how to approach those better? Am I making this too hard?

This is a great feature! One thing I've learned is that you cannot crop the embedded live data area like you can other shapes/images in PowerPoint. So if you need to hide a small part of the report page (like the slicer section), then you need to plan for it when building the report page. I may need to adopt the hidden slicer panel more in future builds.

Great feature. Found you can’t share if recipients are external so for a consultancy firm doesn’t work too well.

But what if our team is working offline in an airport? Would they be able view a cache version of the last online time?

Great feature. If only we could automate the actions using VBA. Manually refreshing or switching to saved image for dozens of slides is no fun.

I thought the integration of Power Point and Power BI only works in the Power Point Online version. Since when does it work in the Desktop version as well? Many thnx.

Does this work with all visuals?
I found in past that it doesnt work with arcgis maps

Amazing feature, absolutely loved it. The only issue that I found is it's hard to navigate between the different pages of the report. Unless you have a button for page navigation in the first page, I could not find how to go to other pages. Hopefully someone can have some insight. Love the videos, Patrick, I never miss one!
