Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said that the pain of partition of the country still exists. He was addressing the country from Delhi’s Red Fort. India celebrates its 75th Independence Day on Sunday.

Just a day before the Independence Day Modi took to twitter to announce that August 14th will be observed as the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. This is in memory of the millions of the people who got displaced amid the mindless hate and violence. Meanwhile, the Congress party attacked Modi over this, stating it to be a publicity stunt.

However, Modi said that it comes in view of the struggles and sacrifices of the people of the country. He added that the country should learn from its mistakes. He also alerted that there are still forces which want to go ahead with the partitioning of the country.
