In the latest OCP Rack and Power monitoring spec,  ORV3 Power Monitoring (PMC and PMI) Rev 65, there is no dedicated RMU box in the rack. Data aggregation is offloaded to power systems and security runs on ToR switch. This may not work for ToR-less racks like fabric (network) racks.
This talk will propose an independent RMU, which will do data aggregation for power devices and anchor security for rack. This RMU can function as a standalone switch or OOB management switch and has flexibility to be used in different configurations (facilities equipment like chillers, generators etc). It has all  functionality supported by current PMC and PMI based design. Power devices send telemetry in Redfish format and RMU aggregates Redfish data and converts to needed format. OpenBMC would aggregate Redfish telemetry and control so Rack monitoring can take full advantage of advancements in Redfish and OpenBMC without another protocol.
