There are currently as of 2023, 23 chimps in the chimp troop at Chester Zoo consisting of 8 Males and 15 Females The oldest is Boris at 56 years old Born 1966 and the youngest is Jeff at 1 Month old Born December 2022
Most of the chimps at Chester Zoo, have appeared in the popular nature documentary series, shown on TV called The Secret Life Of The Zoo.
This animal documentary series was first aired on TV in 2016 and has run for 10 seasons from 2016 - 2021

His smile is because he thinks someone is attacking him and he's trying to display the fact that he doesn't want an issue with anyone. Smiling for chimps and macaques is a versatile body language display.
It can mean: a way of communicating an apology, they come in peace ✌️, they don't want to fight, etc. Lip smacking👄 means close to the same thing.
