Great video mate! Greetings from Cyprus. I'm a piano and accordion player. The name is pronounced Eeoannis Halkias (Ιωάννης Χαλκιάς). But he can also be called Yannis (Γιάννης). Love this tune. Keep up the good work, I just subscribed to your channel 🙂

Interesting! I'm not a bouzouki player myself, but I'm a Turkish oud player who's bouzouki-curious, and I instantly recognized this as the "Rast Zeybek" attributed in Turkey to the late-Ottoman period composer Tanburi Cemil Bey. Seems like the same tune, though Rast traditionally has a slightly flattened 3rd and 7th that can't be played on a modern bouzouki. I'm not trying to stir up a hornet's nest, but it's really not surprising that the same tune would be popular in both traditions--so many are. You can't keep a good tune down.

Here's a link to a cylinder recording of Tanburi Cemil Bey playing on kemençe (backed by an oud player).
