It would be interesting to see an updated version of this since a lot has probably changed in nearly twelve years. But the end results would probably be similar. Microsoft doesn't know how to improve something without screwing up something else in the process.

The best video and Information about both system

yes you correct, you can not make decision on this difference. You need to look over your requirement, budget and what software you use.

Yup, but the network settings in video only for installation of software. But when you go for virtualize the application then you will get GUI on both Virtual Application.

Okay, this is very out of date for sure. Oct 2009. What about an update?

Tell me something. did i just watch a comedy. because this had me laughing. i could detect a subtle hint of sarcasm there. especially in the quote "incase your one of the many who have NOT upgraded to Vista"
Good video thanks for uploading

Hyper-V server is free and gives you failover clustering. Meaning you can configure a HA environment at a low cost. In order to do this with Windows you will need Windows Enterprise which is about $2, 000+ per server. The other piece you need is an iSCSI target. So for small to mid-sized business this is a great cost effective way of building a virtual environment. From what I know in order to have HA you will need failover clustering with 2008 R2 Enterprise.

sje8670-you are right at the time (3 months ago) I hadn't spent much time. After reviewing VMware and VSphere we decided to move forward with Hyper-V. We have a small environment (less than 15 servers). We installed Hyper-v with fail over clustering. This was all FREE. The only thing we needed to have was a cluster shared volume and download Hyper-v server. I still don't see the need to spend thousands for a small installation.

You are right but this video isn't about complexity, its about the time it takes to finish installing. Also as mentioned in other responses, this video is out of date so many of the steps are simpler. BTW just a little update we have been running our Hyper-V environment for the past two years and everything is running great! We even performed a complete server hardware upgrade with practically zero downtime. And Hyper-v is FREE! Love it!

VMware anyday for virtualization :D \m/ i have used both of them and i love the way how VMware has designed it's interface especially once you have your vcenter server up and running you just do everything at the click of a button :D VMware rocks :)))

It is pretty clear this guy supports VMWare all day, however what he failed to show is the MANY MANY MANY firmware updates, reboots, and hours it takes to get the blades up and running... that is if you can without having something DOA right out of the box. Furthermore, if you are going to compare, the correct start would have been after R2 was installed.. as you are testing Hyper-V installation verse ESXI.. Hyper-V is a role for R2, not an OS.

vSphere is the name of this product (or system including view client and connection server) from VMware, on the other hand, ESXi is just the name of hypervisor using by vSphere.

Right on. The Bank I used to work at bought three dell r610s with a massive amount of memory and 2 6 core processors before I left they were 85% virtual. Using Hyper V I don't think VMWare is easier but I dont think Hyper V is easier Except on the pocket book. There are some advantages to buying data center edition the biggest one being that it has unlimited virtual licensing for the machine its installed on.

very details video, but simple thing is run the two server 3 months, and build a server control central, that will get more information

I'm still trying to decide to move forward with Hyper-v or ESXi. As far installation, 20-30min difference is not a deciding factor. Once everything is running I don't think most people will care.

@ashabbas hyper v core is free. You do not need the full blown server to use hyper v. Further, if you are going to use live migration... obviously you're going to have a hardware cost. At any rate MS Hyper V is free and has most of the same functionality as the PAID expensive version of vmware vSphere. Just make sure you're either fiber channel or iSCSI capable. CHEERS!

thank you 2Shiksha, thats show the point, im run a VM in ESX without knowledge and thanks a god dont try to run with hyper-v cause im still toy try to run, but im should be honest and tell you that like more the hyper-v manager that v-sphere, i dont know for me its kinda simple

It's outdated, too. I recently install these two system, and the hyper-v is much easier than ESXi when I try to create the whole environment. The problem of ESXi is connection server and AD that result in a comlex issue of internet deployment.

My opinion is Hyper -V for small business 10 Servers And Vmware for Data Centers all this in this video is just for the installation VM ware it is better from Hyper v ???? (you cannot compare vmware is specific working on Virtual environment) HV-because is for free as a role on your Ms Server 2008 R2 ..
