There are several documented occurrences of the ram lock failing the spine whack, with detailed demonstrations of the failures, the knives disassembled and the reasons for the failures explained.
Microtech has obviously reacted to the info and repaired the easy fix.
Your knife is one that luckily never had the problem or is one of the knives with the new fix (about 6-8 months ago).
But there are still knives out there in customer's hands that are liable to fail that spine whack test.
I would suggest a thorough internet search for all owners of that particular knife, and maybe even some tests to determine safety concerns.

Microtech won't ignore an issue. Especially a safety issue. They charge a lot of money, for their name, and reputation. They're not going to just throw that away.

Microtech is one of the only knife makers listening to customers and giving them huge upgrades for little or no money… Titanium back spacers, titanium pocket clips on some models, Ram Lok, the Stitch, the MSI at very reasonable costs, new deployment system for their OTF’s, integrated pocket clip, lanyard hole and glass breaker that’s easily reversible with silicone carbide ball and zero blade play. If the lock face and geometry was such that the knife fails a spine whack, get over it - it’s fixed and if you are like me and 80% of people, your knife cuts occasionally and spine whacking is never, ever, ever an issue but regardless, Microtech deserves a lot of credit and less criticism (for the spine-whack-tards out there).

That's not a test. U paid a lot of money for that knife, and I can understand why u wouldn't want to damage it. But tapping it 5 times isn't a test.
