I never heard that he was allergic to carrots. I thought he just didn't like them. I saw a documentary where he tried different fruits and vegetables whilst voicing Bugs Bunny; but nothing sounded like a carrot. So he would do a take, chew a carrot and then spit it into a nearby bucket. Mel Blanc was brilliant! Rumor has it that he had extra vocal chords.
