They have the males sing this at the dance because it's a Sadie Hawkins dance, which is meant to empower he women for once, so this song is one that Ives off a impression of a strong independent women, but it may have seemed to have girls do this song without coming across as just promoting being a feminist, plus, the boys hadn't had many song in the episode, so they probably came up with them singing this song.
