Happy solstice!
Before christmas trees arrived to Poland from Germany, we used to have a podłaźniczka for this time of year. Now we call the holiday Boże Narodzenie (God's Nativity), but the older names are Koleda, Szczodre Gody (Generous Festivities) or Gwiazdka (The Star).

I enjoy hearing about Slavic traditions from you as I am able to make associations with my own heritage. Our family suspends little red apples on our Christmas tree and I recall Mum telling me that a few sweets was all that was available to decorate the tree when she was a girl. Thank you for keeping memories alive and a lovely Solstice to you and your family.

Happy Solstice! I would be interested in your source(s) for the wooden ornaments.
