Decibel Discussion With Practical Applications and Examples

There are a number of YouTube videos discussing decibels and the dB scale but I haven't found any that use examples of application and instruments. I hope this helps fill the gap.

This truly will become a classic video! Thanx for upload!!

"Thanks" for that error at 12:51, as this is very common when dealing with dB "referenced" measurements. UnCal/Cal switches are sometimes so tiny and in a 24ch R2R deck you´d simply get lost on your calibration chain...and sometimes after you think you just finished with it finally and play a Cal-mono 2inch tape and suddenly see some 2-3ch overshoot in 1-2dB you go "WTF..." and as you are checking the tape return PCBs you see some little switches laughing at you while beeing in the *Un*Cal again....

15:28 you´d better call it "vintage" McIntosh Amplifier;) That´s why almost all meters are named "VU" = Volume units, so you can have an ordinary dB scale as this : -20, -15, -10, -3, 0, 3, 5, regardless of the actual reference ;)

Uhhuhh 17:40 ;), there´s that term again: "RMS power" ;) RMS power is always 0 with respect to infinity of time;) I remembering your RMS video very well, please add a "klick-me" thing to that video here, as well. As it would help people understand the whole thing a little better....

For 24:24, i give you a wave, nice to *see* you again :) :) :)

You may have added this: +3dB is *double* the *power* (10W and +3db will be 20W); +10dB adds a magnitude (10W and +10dB will be 100W)
and
 +6dB is *double* the *voltage* (4Volt and +6dB will be 8Volts); +20dB adds a magnitude (3Volts and +20dB will be 30Volts)

I can hear the *Bell* ringing, thanx a *lot* :)

Great rundown.  I'm curious about running audio equipment at 4 vs 8 vs 16 ohms.  What does it do to the circuitry driving the load?  There is a reason some amplifiers can't run at 2 ohms, but I don't understand why.

I would like to see (if you have access to one), an examination of a bose wave radio. Frequency response, THD. and whatever else you can glean about them.
