Avery Flatford is Knox News' 2022 Courage Award winner

When Avery Flatford was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at 18 months old, her parents were told that her life expectancy was approximately 30 years.
At 18 years old, Flatford is a two-time state champion with Farragut softball, a Tennessee Tech signee, and one of the best high school pitchers in the state. She is believed to be the first Division I softball player with cystic fibrosis.
