This morning my beloved pet parrot passed away.
In order to find good music to accompany her, I came to Youtube and watched an old Hollywood movie.
Accidentally, this movie popped up afterward and I kept watching, it did bring me comfort after losing my bird. thanks for sharing it.

On a trip to Venice once, just a short walk from the Rialto bridge, there is a shop that was used in this film, with all the press cuttings from the film etc, in the window. The owners are only too happy to tell the story of their shop being in the film. 👍

This movie is so heartfelt. The only word I can express is wonderful-so glad I was able to see this.

43 minutes in and Kate is breaking my heart. David Lean sure made some of the best dramas.

I wanted so much to travel to Europe. I was fortunate to go to China and Turkey and 2 Mexico trips. So I loved this movie not just for the romance but for the virtual trip to Venice. Thank you for sharing.

Rossano Brazzi, what a dream!! I adored him in South Pacific. That scene where Katherine gives the Italian boy a cigarette is hilarious! That would never fly now, too funny

I saw this beautiful movie many years ago and has always stayed in my memory as a classic. I have literally finished watching this and want to thank you for streaming such a CLASS MOVIE.

There’s a part missing in the film right at the end, when Hepburn comes to meet Brassi at the outdoor cafe….she tells him she’s leaving sooner rather than later because she’d rather leave before the party’s over. It’s the culmination, and somebody cut it out??

I agree with someone who commented before. Thanks for posting what you did. I bought the movie on Amazon Prime so I could see the last scenes & they are probably the best in the movie. Very poignant. Heart breaking for Renato. She made a mistake. She should've stayed. Big mistake. I hope she goes back.

Katherine shows emotion and vulnerability so well and easily.

David Lean shoots Venice like a travelogue and it becomes a character in its own right. Often slow but adds to the beauty of the film about a brief holiday romance.

I was there 10 years ago, St Marks Square was totally flooded, which happens a lot, basically Venice is a bunch of islands sitting on an ocean, folks sloshed around with water up to their knees. Amazing to see works by Tintoretto and Titian still in situ in the churches. Italian food, esp baguette is the best in the world.
