Ford's C-Max Energi made it's debut at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. Ford says it can be recharged by plugging it into a standard household outlet.

@matman142 Maybe they did it with an Audi too, but I don't remember it. They did go from Basel, Switzerland to Blackpool (~900 miles) to turn on the Christmas lights. Jeremy was in a Jag, May in a Subaru, and Hammond won the race in a VW polo, all diesels, and the all made it, although James was substantially behind the other two. Jeremy still had enough fuel in the tank of his Jag to go another 120 miles.

@gogmorgoaway Ah. Didn't find the distance in a couple of brief summaries I looked up, so I google mapped it, and got between three or so results between 850 and 900 miles. I didn't really look at the routes, and didn't compare them to the TG ones, so it could be out.

your future STI might resemble something like the Honda CRZ (hybrid performance paired with light-weight construction), torque-vectored, with an amazingly grippy AWD, and either gasoline engines much like Ford's Ecoboost or more innovative layouts like Jaguar's upcoming CX75 that has 4 engines at each wheel with a top speed of 205 mph, 1000lbs of torque, 0-60 in 3 seconds, and can drive from London to Berlin on a single tank of gas.

The future's not that bad.

@gogmorgoaway actually it was around 750 miles. but everything else you said was true. And Jeremy wasn't driving eco-friendly for the first half at all.

only 500 miles... diesels get better economy and milage. Top Gear did a "challenge" and found out that Jaguar V6 TT could do almost 1000 miles (when driven normally on the highway).

first and remove that BB7 grille frm ford i know they owned aston marton at one point but this is cheap and looks like they just threw it on for "pizzazz"
